 Kentucky's Strongestman contest
Dave and I are in the works at creating this years Ky Strongman Contest. We have a few venue ideas but many of them are in Lexington.
The events are looking pretty cool as well.
Just wanted to let you guys know that the date looks to be October 2nd or October 9th.
Hopefully the venue will be inside.
i just wanted to let everyone know the dates so that can begin to make plans. entry will be posted on NAS soon.

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
What about having the contest at 6pm?
I will have two of everything but atlas and sand bag carry. I think we can get it done in plenty of time. I also think that this would bring out more spectators.
I need to here from somebody. let me know ASAP

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
I posted info for some of the guys that have training logs. It is not my intention to bug any of you but I was trying to get some kind of input about having the contest at 6pm.
Dave and I have been trying to get a location in Lexington but that plan fell through yesterday. now we are going to have it at Eagle Lake which is the same location as the Beast contest. I am also trying to judge how much interest their is out there in terms of competitors.

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
KY's strongest Man 2010 is set for Oct. 2nd. at 6 PM at Eagle Lake Convention Center in Lawrenceburg, Ky.
I hope to see a strong flatline showing at this contest. two will be going at a time. this should keep the contest under 4 hours.
should also offer a last chance for guys to qualify for nationals.
train hard, davey

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
when will the entry form be posted along with the scheduled events. My other question is will shirts be allowed of the flat log bench and the sandbag carry is that out in front of you or is shouldering the bag allowed?

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
no shirts allowed and sand bag is out in front bear hug style. you will get to grip the sandbag from a podium prior to starting.
entry should have been posted already. Dave is looking into why it has not been posted yet. I look to see it posted within the next 24 hours.

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
Okay there has been a lot of conversation about the yoke height. So to help with training you need to set either your yoke bar or inside a squat rack olympic bar 46-48 inches off the ground.
the difference in height comes from the fact that I have different yokes and they don't have the same hole measurements and thus won't level at exactly the same height.
if you did not understand all you need to do is set an olympic bar 46 inches off the ground and crawl under it and stand up to complete the lift.
also on a side note be prepared to go to failure. meaning I am thinking about taking the time element out of the event and just go with max effort. meaning start at 400-450-500-550-600-650-700-750-800 and so on until you fail.
Good luck training McCann

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
I'm going to pray for that 48" yoke!
Seriously, just bringing my yoke up to 45 3/4" from 44" (which was my original guess) has helped tremendously. Thanks for the info!

 Re: Kentucky's Strongestman contest
Rob can correct me if I'm wrong but it's still limited to 60 seconds on the yoke squat. You just get to keep going instead of stopping after 5 reps or whatever. you now can go 50 lb jumps until failure or 60 seconds whichever comes first.
